epiTUNES is your source for music in Boston. Search venues for bands playing near you, listen to their music, and meet other fans with similar interests. At epiTUNES it's all about the music.Originally from Utah, Meg and Dia create infectiously catchy tunes laced with beautiful vocal harmonies on top of bombastic power chords and air-tight rhythms. Alternative Press listed them as one of their ‘100 Bands You Need To Know In 2006'. Along with sisters Meg (guitar/vocals) and Dia (vocals), the band is rounded out Nick Price on drums, Carlo Gimenez on guitar and Jonathan Snyder on bass. Their new album, Something Real (Doghouse Records), was produced by Stacy Jones of American Hi-Fi fame. They'll be playing live at Middle East Downstairs on September 4th.
With nods to the Velvet Underground and Iggy and Stooges, Darker My Love has crafted a sound that is quickly gaining a rabid following among alternative rock fans. They hit the Northeast this weekend with shows tonight at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, the Mercury Lounge in New York Saturday, and Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge Sunday.
With a slightly heavier sound than some of their more recognized contemporaries, such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and the Dandy Warhols, Darker My Love reminds me a bit of Tall Birds, which in my eyes or more accurately ears is good company. Check them out for yourself at Darker My Love and sign up for their RSS feed to get updates on when they are coming to your city.
